With ballots arriving and the June 2 primary approaching, I’m focused on solutions that improve daily life across the Central Coast — including housing that actually gets built, reliable water and energy infrastructure, stable school funding, and a stronger future for local families and employers.

🗳️ About California Assembly District 30

Assembly District 30 is one of the most rural Assembly districts in California, covering nearly all of San Luis Obispo County except portions of Arroyo Grande and Nipomo. The district is home to nearly 500,000 residents and includes a wide range of communities, industries, and regional priorities.

🔹 Leadership & Campaign Approach

Susannah's approach is centered on action, implementation, and measurable results. She shared that while many campaigns begin with broad value statements, her focus is on turning policies into outcomes that people can actually see and feel in their daily lives.

She also described herself as a moderate Democrat focused on bringing people together and finding solutions that work for the entire community, not just one political party.

🌊 A People-First, Solutions-Focused Campaign

Throughout the conversation, Susannah emphasized that this campaign is rooted in listening to the community and staying actively involved across the district. She spoke about the importance of being accessible, responding directly to residents, and understanding the real challenges people are facing throughout the Central Coast.

“This is a people-first campaign,” Susannah shared during the discussion, emphasizing the need for leadership that stays connected to the community rather than operating from a distance.

She also discussed the importance of creating conversations that bring different groups together rather than deepening political division.

📚 Education & Classroom Priorities

Education was another major topic during the interview. Susannah discussed the importance of ensuring students and teachers have access to the basic resources needed for success in the classroom.

She expressed concerns about schools losing librarians, music programs, and mental health counselors due to unstable funding challenges.

Susannah emphasized that teachers and families should not have to personally cover the cost of classroom essentials and advocated for more predictable, responsible education funding that prioritizes both students and educators.
