Diablo Canyon Power Plant and the Responsibility of Leadership

This week at the SLO City Council, I listened to our community and spoke about what responsible leadership requires: safety, stability, and long term planning for the Central Coast.

For families here, Diablo Canyon Power Plant is not abstract. It is about safety, local jobs, and the future of our region. The people who operate this plant are highly trained professionals who take immense pride in protecting our coastline and keeping the public safe. Diablo Canyon is one of California's largest sources of carbon-free energy and plays an important role in reducing emissions during the transition to renewables.

Real leadership looks forward. It plans beyond short timelines and ensures our community has certainty, strong infrastructure, workforce stability, and a reliable energy future.
